About The Clinics

Trotter Speed & Mental Training Clinics are designed to be a balance of high caliber, Olympic quality speed training, paired with DeeDee Trotter’s personal mental success equation. 90% of being able to execute and deliver on what you have been training for, all comes down to how mentally strong and prepared you are for the task. Deedee has created a mental training curriculum that will not only help athletes to succeed in their sport, but this knowledge can also be utilized in their everyday lives. These clinics are designed for athletes in any sport who wish to obtain more speed and the skills necessary to become a mental beast/ champion! 

About Your Coach

DeeDee Trotter is a three-time Olympian, three-time World Champion, three-time USA Champion, two-time NCAA Champion and SEC Champion in the sport of Track and Field. During her career, DeeDee specialized in the 400m and 200m sprints. She ran a personal best time of 49.64 in the 400 meters, and 22.85 in the 200 meters. Her highest career achievements include representing Team USA in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic Games. Notably, she earned three Olympic medals, two gold medals in the 4 x 400m relay, and a bronze medal in the individual 400 meter event.

Coaching Experience

Deedee is a USATF certified coach in the sport of track and field. She has worked as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee where she attended college, University of Central Florida, and the University of Southern California for a total of 10 years combined. Her personal coach and mentor, Caryl Smith-Gilbert, the director of track and field at the University of Southern California, has greatly helped to mold and inspire DeeDee’s coaching philosophy. While assisting Coach Caryl over the years, DeeDee has played a dynamic part in helping to physically and mentally develop some of the top male and female sprinters in the world.

Mental Champion

In 2016, Deedee retired from the sport of track and field after attempting to make a 4th Olympic Team.  She concluded a 13 year professional career revered amongst the fast women in the world. Now retired, Deedee travels the world as a motivational speaker encouraging students, athletes and people from all walks of life to become mentally stronger and more powerful. She imparts her core mentality of “I can, I must, I will, into her athletes while at the same time instilling in them the importance of belief in one’s self. DeeDee’s life experiences has given her a blueprint for success and more importantly, she has the ability to teach these invaluable tools to others.

Trotter Speed & Mental Training Clinics will have 6 available sessions over two weeks. There will be NO makeup clinics unless weather causes a clinic cancelation. Athletes should attend as many clinics as possible to ensure performance improvement.

What To Wear:

    • Athletes participating in the Trotter Speed Clinic, must wear the provided t-shirt to every training clinic.
    • Each athlete will be provided 1 shirt in their practice kit. Additional approved items can be purchased at the Trotter Speed Clinic Apparel Site.
    • Bottoms will not be provided in your practice kit or on the apparel site. 
    •  Have some fun! Shirts ordered on the Trotter Speed Clinic Apparel Site can be customized with your name on the back, selecting from a variety of fonts and colors! Visit Our Store!

Each kit contains the following items:

There is a one time $25 charge for your practice kits and will be add to your cart during check out.  The kits will be issued at the clinic upon your arrival.

Amaya Turner, had a spectacular 2020 indoor season, breaking the 800m and 400m records at the University of Kentucky, High School Invitational. Amaya ran a lifetime best of 2:12.02 in the 800m, dropping more than 3 seconds off her previous best time. She also ran an indoor best of 55.36 in the 400m! These speedy performances earned Amaya a spot amongst the top 15 in the country! Congratulations Amaya, you're a BEAST!  

2019 SPEED & MENTAL ATHLETES OF THE YEAR!

Trotter Speed Clinics would like to recognize two athletes that truly embody the physical and mental fundamentals taught at the Trotter Speed Clinics.  

Both individuals not only greatly improved their speed, but also overcame numerous mental obstacles along the way.

 2019 SPEED & MENTAL ATHLETES OF THE YEAR !

Averie Gary, had a breakthrough season that catapulted her all the way to the USATF Junior Olympic Championships in California. Before attending the Trotter Speed Clinics, Averie's personal best time in the 100m Hurdles was 21.98. She stepped it up, physically and mentally, and was able to decrease her 100m Hurdles time to 16.67, shaving off over 5 seconds! Congratulations Averie, you're a BEAST!
